ROOM 18's AND 19's ASSEMBLY BY KYAH

On Thursday the 15th of September, Room 18 & 19 had their assembly about the Olympics. We did a girls verses boys dance battle but in the end we all united together just like the Olympians and we did the best dance together. It was a great assembly to watch and listen to. But I think the girls did a better dance than the boys. Just remember always have good sportsmanship.
For our WOW Writing we wrote persuasive texts on the topic, Who is the Best Athlete? All of the students did an excellent job and these were displayed in the Undercover Area.

FACTION ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

On Friday, 9 September we had the Faction Athletics Carnival. All students were in a running race and at least two team games. We spent the day in our faction bays cheering on our team. It was an excellent day with lots of good sportsmanship and competitiveness.
In the end there could only be one winning faction and that was purple. Well done, Purple!
A big congratulations goes to Shawn who was the Intermediate Runner Up Champion Boy.

DANCE MAT TYPING BY ALONA

Room 19 has done a fun activity called Dance Mat Typing. Dance Mat Typing is good for kids because it can teach you how to type words fast (Like your teachers). It tells how you to type using both hands and it sure is fun! It goes from level 1 to level 12. Your left hand has to be on a s d f and your right hand has to be on j k l ;.
Dance Mat Typing is really helpful to teach you how to type. You have to go to Google and write in www.dancemattyping.com.au. Please try to do it!
Other websites that teach typing are:
Typing Club - https://www.typingclub.com  I like this one best. Simple pictorial, easy to follow instructions and series of lessons.
Kebr - http://www.keybr.com/page/practice For more experienced typers to extend their skills. Has speed, errors and score indicators showing your progress.
Typing Games for Kids http://www.learninggamesforkids.com/keyboarding_games.html This site has a lot of games to make learning to type fun. You might want to try some of these or have the class investigate them.

SCHOLASTIC LEARNING ZONE - LITERACY PRO BY CHERRY, OLIVER AND MERAJ

Scholastic Learning Zone – Literacy Pro By Cherry, Oliver and Meraj
If you have a Literacy Pro account, you have to pass quizzes by reading books. You can do quizzes but it is important to read books first. You have to get 7 out of 10 or higher to pass a quiz. You earn points. By earning points you get a certificate. The certificate colours are blue, red, bronze, silver and gold.
To start off you have to do a Lit Pro test to get your Lexile level measured. Having Literacy Pro is really fun.
Room 19 has read over 900 000 words.
Blue certificate winners are: Cherry, Falencia, Oliver and Kavi
Red certificate winners are: Cherry and Kavi
Our goal is for all of the students in Room 19 to get at least one certificate at the next assembly. So make sure you’re all reading!

ORAL PRESENTATIONS BY SUMMER AND FALENCIA

This term Room 19 students did an Oral Presentation focusing on the topic, If I was Famous. Lots of people had really interesting speeches. Some of them were short but they were really good! Some students chose to do PowerPoint Presentations to go with their speeches. We presented our speeches on different days. Some people were nervous. It was lots of fun talking about what we want to be if we were famous!
