On Wednesday 23 March we celebrated Harmony Day at school. This year the theme was Everyone
Belongs. We
celebrated the cultural diversity of Australia. We read stories about
people around the world and we looked at how we are the same and how we
are different. We looked at websites which showed different houses,
schools and bedrooms from all around the world. We realised how lucky we
are to be living in Australia.
In
Art we focussed on what makes us special or different. We wrote about
it on a piece of calico which was then turned into a whole school piece
of art called the House of Harmony.
We
also got to dress up on Harmony Day. We got to wear traditional
costumes from the country we are from or where our family is from. We
could
also wear something orange because this is the official colour of
Harmony Day. We got to take part in the parade at the assembly.
