In Week 6, we all presented our Super Scientist research or
experiments. It was so interesting learning about how different things
react to each other and how some things work. We saw several different
experiments such as, balloon rockets, erupting volcanoes, bubbling lava
lamps, gravity free water, bouncing balls, a cloud in a jar, floating
and sinking oranges, diet coke and mentos, a levitating orb and many
more. All of the students spoke really well and they enjoyed being Super
Scientists.
Room 19’s winners were Sophie and Lochlann.
In Week 8 Sophie and Lochlann presented their experiments and
research to all of the Year 3s. There were 8 finalists, but there could
be only one winner. That winner was Sophie!
Sophie will now be performing her bubbling lava lamp experiment on Thursday 23 June at the whole school assembly.

SUPER SCIENTIST POSTERS
After completing our Super Scientist experiments and research we
wrote procedures about them. In a procedure you need to have an aim, the
materials used, the method and a conclusion. Once we had written our
drafts we then used Microsoft Word to type them out. We could include
appropriate Clipart and a border to enhance the presentation of our
procedure.
We could print out a page of scientific Clipart to add to our posters. Miss Dagostino also printed out some photos of us completing our experiments. We then chose a coloured piece of A3 card and created our posters. They turned out extremely well. We are all so proud of our efforts.

NUMERO CHALLENGES
We have started to complete the weekly Numero Challenge in the West
Australian newspaper. Numero helps to develop our problem-solving skills
and it helps us practise our addition, subtraction, multiplication and
division understandings.
We have also been learning how to play the Numero card game. We are having so much fun trying to get the highest card takes.

MEASURING IN MATHS
We have been doing lots of measuring using metres and centimetres. We
had to estimate how long our classroom was and then we had to measure
it using the measuring tapes. Some of our estimations were really
accurate. Our class was almost 10 metres long.
We’ve been learning how to convert centimetres to metres and then back again. We have also learnt how to add and subtract metres and centimetres.
